Regardless if you are a student leaving for a summer study abroad program or a 5 or a 10 month study abroad program, a budget is necessary. Devising a budget will help you plan accordingly and prepare for any unforeseen expenditures. Not to mention, as a student so far away from home, it may be a good time to consider applying for a student credit card.
Aside from the quoted foreign exchange 'program fee', certain fees may not be included or itemized in the foreign exchange program. To evaluate and assess the best study abroad program for you, compare the cost of each expenditure between two or more foreign exchange programs using the checklist below. It doesn't hurt to ask your desired program to include or reduce some of the fees.
